Consumer Terms of Purchase

Last Updated: October 6, 2026

These Terms apply when you (“Seller”) offer, deliver or sell scrap metal or other materials to Clifton Metals.

1. Legal Ownership

By offering material for sale, you represent that:

  • You legally own the material or are legally authorized to sell it;
  • The material was lawfully obtained;
  • It is not stolen;
  • There are no undisclosed ownership claims or liens against it; and
  • Your sale complies with applicable law.

Clifton Metals may refuse any material or transaction where lawful ownership cannot reasonably be established.

2. Identification Requirements

Valid government-issued photo identification and other information may be required before Clifton Metals purchases material.

We may copy and retain identification and transaction information where required by law.

Failure or refusal to provide required identification or documentation may result in refusal of the transaction.

3. Quotes and Scrap Prices

Scrap-metal prices may change frequently due to commodity markets, material grade, quantity and other factors.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, telephone, website, email or SMS quotes are estimates and are subject to verification when the material is physically inspected and weighed.

A quote based on photographs or a customer’s description may be revised if the material’s actual grade, weight, composition, condition or quantity differs from the information provided.

4. Weighing and Grading

Materials will be weighed, inspected, classified and graded by Clifton Metals.

The final purchase value will be determined based upon the accepted weight, classification, grade, composition and then-current applicable purchase price.

5. Material We May Refuse

Clifton Metals reserves the right to refuse material that:

  • Is suspected to be stolen;
  • Cannot be lawfully purchased;
  • Cannot be reasonably identified or graded;
  • Contains hazardous, radioactive or prohibited substances;
  • Presents a safety or environmental hazard;
  • Is materially different from the description supplied by Seller; or
  • Otherwise does not meet our purchasing requirements.

6. Catalytic Converters and Other Regulated Materials

Additional ownership documentation may be required before Clifton Metals purchases catalytic converters or other materials subject to special legal requirements.

Where applicable, this may include vehicle identification information, title, registration, repair documentation, bill of sale, or other evidence demonstrating lawful ownership.

Clifton Metals may refuse any such material where legally required documentation cannot be provided.

7. Hazardous or Contaminated Material

Seller is responsible for accurately disclosing any known hazardous, radioactive or contaminated material.

Clifton Metals may refuse such material and may require Seller to remove rejected material where permitted by law.

Seller may be responsible for reasonable costs arising from undisclosed contamination, unlawful material or other material improperly delivered to Clifton Metals, subject to applicable law.

8. Payment

Payment is subject to verification of the material, completion of legally required documentation and compliance with applicable payment requirements.

The payment method and timing may vary depending upon the type and value of the transaction and applicable law.

9. Law-Enforcement Cooperation

Clifton Metals may provide transaction, identification, or material information to law-enforcement or government authorities where required or permitted by law.

Suspected stolen property, fraud or unlawful transactions may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

10. Electronic Communications

By providing your email address or mobile number, you agree that transaction-related communications may be provided electronically where permitted.

Marketing communications, including promotional SMS messages, are subject to the separate consent requirements described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Limitation Regarding Quotes

Website prices, market information and quoted scrap prices are provided for informational purposes and may change without notice.

Nothing displayed on the website constitutes a guaranteed purchase price unless Clifton Metals expressly confirms otherwise.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and transactions with Clifton Metals shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. The version applicable to a transaction will generally be the version in effect when the transaction occurs.
